J.K. Rowling famously said: "Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."
Rock bottom is often surrounded by feelings of misery, desperation, hopelessness, sadness, disgust, hatred, hostility and emptiness, to name a few.
The narratives accompanying it are: "I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel." "Does anyone else feel this way?" "What is the purpose of my life?" "How did I let things get this bad?" "I wonder if there is a God."
Though, thoughts and feelings are not themselves rock bottom as much as they are qualities and reflections of it.
What exactly is rock bottom?
Rock bottom is reality!
Reality is absolute truth, the definitive law, and a brutally honest mirror of your life.
Reality never conforms to our expectations, and its unchanging nature eventually leads us to surrender our need for control.
It's both the worst thing in the world in that it can't be manipulated or persuaded and the best thing in the world in that it offers absolute liberty and freedom when you accept it for what it is.
"We are often more frightened than hurt, and we suffer more from imagination than reality."
