I caught a gorgeous sunrise yesterday in the Outer Banks without a cloud in sight. As the sun began to perch itself upon the horizon, I noticed a wonderful glow along the ocean between me and the sun.
After 30 minutes of being mesmerized by nature's YES, I took my favorite stroll along the beach towards the pier. What I noticed, and seemingly had not noticed before was the glow the sun cast along the ocean was following me. At that moment, I felt seen and validated in my very being by nature.
I felt like the sun was saying YES to me, reflecting back to me the goodness it observed in me and my appreciating it was reflecting the goodness I saw back to it.
Of course, this was a magnificent story my wildly creative imagination conjured, and it's one I'm delighted to tell myself.
Over the years, I've come to recognize we can learn how to tell ourselves better stories; one's that bring out the best in us and those around us.
