The first phase of all successful change endeavors is not taking action; it's prioritizing awareness.
Seeing how you're participating in your challenges is its own sort of action, the strategic kind, the rewarding kind, the lasting kind.
Sure you can take action sans contemplation, but it's premature action, and a shot in the dark at best.
And no matter how many times I tell new clients that awareness precedes transformation, they still rush towards action.
But of course, they have to and they should.
They should because it feels right to them, and they have to because the humiliation of failure is a requirement for learning, growth, and evolution.
I'll kindly say: "We can spend as much time as you'd like at the first phase of change, and until you become an observer of your life, little is likely to change."
"You can observe a lot by watching." Yogi Berra
