The Whole Person Blog: Week Eight, Day Seven, Part 1/2 - Saturday Summary
Sunday, February 23rd, 2020
After just a few pages into rereading The Gifts of Imperfection, it's easy to remember why Brene is America's sweetheart. She brilliantly and seemingly effortlessly, presents the heaviest of subjects (shame, fear, and vulnerability) in the most refreshing, relatable, and humorous ways. Page-by-page, my head is nodding in agreement with her wholehearted philosophy, as I'm seduced by the charisma of her Texas charm. Over the next week, we will dive into the nine remaining guideposts: Cultivating self-compassion, a resilient spirit, gratitude and joy, intuition and trusting faith, creativity, play and rest, calm and stillness, meaningful work, and laughter, song, and dance. And thank you, my faithful reader, for sharing your attention with me and embracing my art, I do appreciate you.
Some magical things are happening inside of The Whole Person Project, from epiphanies to breakthroughs, empathy to compassion, and surrender to transformation. Participants have been so gracious, humble, and generous, continually thanking me for developing this course (which I was not expecting), vulnerably sharing and detaching from the painful experiences of their past, and uplifting one another like they're being paid six-figures to do so. An overall heartwarming and healing experience. Can't wait till we run the next one mid-May, 2020.
Writing my blog alongside this course has been challenging, to say the least. I've contemplated reducing the frequency over the next couple of weeks. After sitting with my WHY (emotional drivers), I've decided to leverage this as an opportunity to drill down, increase focus, and keep writing.
I just bought a new domain name today: www.mbscoachingschool.com. Yep, I'll be launching a MindBodySpirit Coaching School in 2021. Stay tuned...

Chasing symptoms, even with the best intentions, is, unfortunately, the opposite of what it means to treat yourself as A Whole Person: MindBodySpirit. The challenge inherent in that approach is you're treating WHAT's happening to you (transactionally), as opposed to WHY it's happening to you (relationally), causing you to be overly critical of yourself and the outcome. As soon as your agenda becomes resolving symptoms, your chance of success drops to 8%.
We will continue exploring Brene Brown's: The Gifts of Imperfection.
