From sedentary to high-intensity training

I recently started seeing a client with some knee problems.

A few months prior, her doctor diagnosed her with osteoporosis and suggested she start engaging weight-bearing activities.

My client, obviously with the best of intent, went from a completely sedentary lifestyle, glued to a desk 50 hours per week to a five day per week high-intensity exercise program.

I said to her: You know, walking is also a weight-bearing activity.

Her doctor clearly could have done a better job of helping her grade her experience of introducing exercise into her life, and culturally speaking, this is evidence of our culture's extreme imbalances and approach to everything.

We've sorted her knee problems out, made some minor modifications, and teaching her how to monitor her threshold.
