Don't meditate...



...REST!


As a MindBodySpirit Coach, I'm coming to understand that meditation, like exercise, has negative connotations.


On the whole, people don't feel meditation is something they're good at, and as a result, it becomes just another thing they have to do to feel productive.


Words matter because of their symbolic meaning and lead to predictable behaviors: Meditation --> Obligation --> Procrastination.


I replace the word meditation with REST, and it has an incredible impact. Most people are tired and suffering the effects for starters, and this term is associated with vitality, longevity, and resilience.


The only thing they need to give themselves is permission, not having to think, feel, process, or perform, furthermore, relinquishing their need to define themselves by any role or responsibility.


The words most people use to describe how they feel after 3 minutes of REST are peaceful, centered, connected, grounded, and available.
