Acknowledging your pain doesn't minimize your progress

As my clients make progress, something interesting happens.

Rather than acknowledge they still have pain and embracing the many challenges before them, they begin focusing on "how far they've come."

I'm all about celebrating progress but perpetually admiring your gains limits the possibilities of continued growth.

This, of course, is a scarcity mentality, disguised defensiveness, and the ego resisting the uncertainty of transformation.

The only thing that can defeat the ego is a spirit of generosity.

I'll gently share the pattern I'm seeing and tell them that recognizing their pain doesn't minimize their progress.

A dose of kindness and encouragement is usually all it takes, and then, they take their next step forward.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill
