Healing

My sessions with Mike have helped me immensely in terms of restoring strength and balance to my body. I have had two ACL surgeries on the same left knee which had resulted in significant atrophy to my surgically (semi) repaired knee as well as other related parts of my body. Through the years, conventional physical therapy and training have not resulted in helping me restore my original strength and balance and more importantly confidence. Through Mike’s unconventional methods of stretching, soft tissue massage and movement exercises, my body has found a way to heal on its own between each of our sessions. Mike is tremendously knowledgeable about movement as well as adept at individualizing the program for reach individual. Through Mike’s work, I am confident I will be able to continue to improve and return to an active lifestyle.

Endurance

I came to Condition for Life three weeks before I ran the Marine Corp Marathon. I was experiencing excruciating pain in my right hip and leg, which many times made it very difficult for me during the training to finish my long runs of 15 miles and up. I was worried that I will not be able to finish the marathon. Mike Rizk helped me during the last three weeks of my training by introducing me to various balancing and realigning moves/stretches, designed to lessen and eventually eliminate the pain I was experiencing during long runs. I ran the MCM on October 27, 2013 and to my surprise I did not experience any hip pain during the 26.2 miles. After the marathon, I felt great and I was very happy that Mike was able to work with me in the short time before the race.

Sustainable

I first came to Condition for Life about four and a half years ago. I had severe IT band problems-both sides – but worse on the left side. I went through a cycle of rest, treat, strengthen, recover, and recurrence for over a year. Every time I’d get back to about 10 miles per week of running, there it was again. I came to Mike, hoping for a different approach that would enable me to beat it for good. With his help, I was thrilled to be able to run again without pain within a month, and the problem hasn’t recurred since. Since then, I’ve had a few other injuries, but with Mike’s help I’ve gotten better quickly and I don’t get injured as often. Along the way, I’ve gained a better understanding of how my body works and how I can help it stay healthy and functional, and that has made a big difference in my life. I joined the group fitness program at C4L about two and a half years ago, and in that time have gained strength, lost 65 pounds, and learned the fun of kettlebells and 3-D functional training.
